Lessons from my Fathers

Lessons from My Fathers is a personal project where I reflect on the men who helped shape my life.

Some were close. Some were brief. Some are still here, and some I may never see again. But each of them modeled something fatherly, and taught me lessons about strength, steadiness, courage, faith, care — and those lessons stayed with me.

This is my way of saying thank you. Of giving flowers to the living. And honoring the qualities they showed me is possible in a man.

I’m starting with my own story. Maybe it will help you reflect on yours, too.

This isn’t just about my story.

At some point, someone stepped into your life and showed you what strength looked like. Or steadiness. Or sacrifice. Or faith. Maybe they knew the impact they had. Maybe they didn’t.

I want to create space for you to name those people. To say thank you — out loud, in writing, on record. To give them their flowers while you can. And even if you can’t reach them, honor the role they played in shaping you.

If someone helped form who you are, this is your invitation to acknowledge it.
